Mark Murkes is an advisor on digital media projects. Together with his collaborator Erik Katerborg, he was named best Dutch webdesigner in 1998. Since then, he has worked for several companies, including KPN, Heineken International, ABN AMRO Asset Management, and UPC in the guises of project manager, advisor, and consultant.
Past projects include the grand opening of the KPN Headquarters by HRH the Prince of Orange, the pioneering of new interactive public exhibits and live video streams for Heineken, and a host of other interactive communication platforms for a myriad of clients.
Mark attended the University of Groningen, where he majored in American Studies. His thesis reflects the American perception of reality, videogames, and virtual environments. In his spare time, he likes to reflect upon the impact of new technology on society and tries to wite about videogames, interactivity and technology.
He recently finished his latest project as Content Manager and Senior Game Designer for Spellborn, the first Dutch-made MMORPG videogame for the international market.
Currently, he works for several (semi) governmental clients.
